Timmonsville, SC – Heyward V. Christmas, 73 passed away on Saturday evening, June 30, 2018,surrounded by his loving family.
A graveside service will be Thursday, July 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will speak to those attending after the service in the Church Fellowship Hall and at other times at 2680 S. Cartersville Hwy, Timmonsville,SC.
Mr. Christmas was born in Lee County, the son of the late Heyward V and Lomie Brown Christmas.He served in the US Army for 8 ½ years, including a tour in Vietnam. He was the owner and operator of Chris’ Bar-B-Que in past years. He retired from SC DHEC as a Food Establishment Inspector. Heyward was a Mason, until recently, he was a part-time farmer. He was a lifetime blood donor having given over 10 gallons. Heyward was a member of Sardis Baptist Church, the men’s Sunday School Class and a former Sunday School Teacher.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Linda Hickson Christmas; a daughter, Vaughndra (Troy) Brown; a son, Herbie (Darlene McCutcheon) Christmas; three sisters, Harriett Wilkes, Dorothy Powell and Juanita Ortiz; his grandsons, Lee Brown, Conor (Haley Holland) Brown, Ty Christmas and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his “heaven born” granddaughter, Lynne Maude Brown and a sister, Leotis C. Anderson.

So sorry for the loss of a wonderful man. My heart goes out to this family. I worked with Linda for many years at DHEC and have considered her a dear friend. We shared many things together. I love you Linda, and my prayers are with you during this difficult time. I'm here for you.

I and a friend, Wanda worked for Mr. Christmas at Chris's Bar-B-Que. It was my first ever job. I was 16 and so enjoyed working there. Good memories.
