Louis A. Bateman, Jr.



Florence, SC – Louis Albert Bateman, Jr. 89, died Dec. 11, 2017 in a local hospital.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Pisgah United Methodist Church, Florence. Entombment will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens. The family will speak to those attending from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the church before the service.

Mr. Bateman was born in Florence County, the son of the late Louis Albert, Sr. and Mildred Jeffords Bateman. “Bubba” as he was known by family and friends was a member of Pisgah United Methodist Church. He was retired from the Army National Guard at the rank of Warrant Officer having worked as a Shop Supervisor. He was an assistant Fire Chief with the West Florence Volunteer Fire Dept. “Bubba” was a Past Worshipful Master of Benton Lodge #26, Timmonsville. He enjoyed traveling on Church Mission trips and loved to work with the children on the ventures. He liked to travel and Alaska was his favorite destination.

Surviving are two sons, “Al” (Janice) Bateman, Scot (Kimberly) Bateman; a daughter, Lisa (Jerry) McManus; three brothers, Jeff (Eunice) Bateman, Billy (Dot) Bateman, Tommy (Margie) Bateman; a sister, Mildred Lewis; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and his special canine companion “Peanut’.
